He is expected to say: “I’ve asked my officials to work closely with the police and intelligence agencies to urgently review the case for exercising this power in relation to Syria, with a particular focus on Idlib and the north east. “So anyone who is in these areas without a legitimate reason should be on notice.” ‘Long time coming’ Sir Peter Fahy, former counter-terrorism lead for the Association of Chief Police Officers, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “It’s been a long time coming. Clearly the conflict in Syria has been going for many years and there’s been this problem of what to do with people who go overseas. He said the legislation was welcome but there would be complications …

Stormy Daniels Settles Suit Against Michael Cohen, Ex-Attorney Keith Davidson

A notice to the court on Thursday indicated that Daniels — whose real name is Stephanie Clifford — reached an agreement in principle with Cohen to settle the claims and a final agreement with her ex-lawyer, Keith Davidson. The lawsuit accused him of being a “puppet” for Trump and secretly working with Cohen to have Daniels appear on Fox News and falsely deny having sex with Trump. The interview never took place. Messages left for attorneys representing Daniels and Cohen were not immediately returned Friday. Daniel said she signed a nondisclosure agreement about the affair in exchange for a $130,000 payment. She signed the agreement days before the 2016 election. She wanted a Los Angeles court to declare the agreement …

Amash is the first Republican congressman to call for Congress to take that action. Alabama’s abortion law addresses an urgent human rights issue

(CNN)The Alabama pro-life law signed into law Wednesday addresses a human-rights issue: the right to life. The argument that only a woman’s body is at stake doesn’t work: from conception, a pregnancy involves at least distinct bodies that of the fertilized egg which contains a distinct and new blend of DNA (from mother and father), all that is needed to become a baby, and that of the mother. It is dangerous when a society ignores the rights of the young and innocent. There are various statistics about the prevalence of abortion. The Guttmacher Institute claims that nearly “one in four women in the United States … will have an abortion by age 45.” There were more than 3.78 million babies …

‘GoT’ and ‘Big Bang Theory’ finales highlight shift to fewer shared TV experiences

(CNN)Two major hits, “Game of Thrones” and “The Big Bang Theory,” are signing off within days of each other. Whether those shared viewing experiences represent a celebration or a wake is once again the subject of debate in TV industry circles. This discussion is hardly a new one. Each time a major hit goes off the air — “The Cosby Show” in 1992, “Seinfeld” in 1998, “Friends” in 2004, “The Sopranos” in 2007 — there seems to be a new round of speculation regarding whether TV has crossed a bridge into what amounts to a smaller, more dispersed world. When “Seinfeld” ended, the late Larry Gelbart — who developed “M*A*S*H,” still the most-watched series finale ever — cited the value …

House GOP Leader: Alabama Abortion Law Goes Too Far

California Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the House minority leader, told reporters that the law, which doesn’t allow exceptions for abortions in cases of rape and incest, “goes further than I believe.” McCarthy wouldn’t take a stand on whether the Supreme Court should strike down the measure, the strictest abortion law in the nation, if a challenge were to reach the court. Opinion polls show widespread opposition to overturning the high court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision, which could return the issue back to the states. Republicans have been on the offensive this year trying to link congressional Democrats to late-term abortion measures pushed by some of the party’s most liberal forces in state legislatures such as New York’s. ‘The Big Bang Theory’ finale closes with a big dose of heart

(CNN)The following contains spoilers about “The Big Bang Theory” series finale. As it turned out, though, the episode (rather sweetly credited to a dozen writers, including co-creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady) served as a conduit to showcase the way in which the show itself has changed — adding key female characters, marrying off the guys and graduating to more grown-up problems and issues, without giving up their passion for things like comic books and “Star Wars” movies. The graduation to adulthood saw the characters take another major step in the finale, as Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) learned that they were pregnant — joining Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) in the parents club — a …

(CNN)A Chinese cargo plane arrived in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas on Monday, the Venezuelan Ministry of Communication has told CNN. Maduro retains the backing of Beijing, which has repeatedly opposed any action that causes tensions or unrest in Venezuela. China is owed vast sums by the Maduro government; over the last decade, Beijing has lent more than $50 billion to the oil-rich nation through oil-for-loan agreements, according to Reuters. While Maduro has also permitted aid deliveries from NGOs such as the Red Cross, he has refused to open Venezuela’s borders to aid from a number of countries that recognize opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s legitimate interim president. Yet Another ‘Game Of Thrones’ Mainstay Has Died

Shame. She was wrong. Authorities said Cersei fell victim to her enemy’s own cruelty, finding herself in the Red Keep as it crumbled around her and took out much of her guard. When her loyal Hand-slash-co-conspirator Qyburn met a poetic fate at the hand of the reanimated Mountain, a monster of his own making, all seemed lost until she stumbled into her twin brother, Jaime. Reports indicate the Queen’s last words betrayed an inner cowardice: “Please don’t let me die. I don’t want to die.” Her brother reportedly held his sister, repeating a familiar sentiment, that the two of them were the only ones who mattered.  HBO Cersei Lannister is now no longer.  She was rumored to have given birth …
